Sharn’e is one of the most interesting people we have working at Park Day. She joined us in Feb 2017 after I had read her CV which she had dropped in explaining that she had completed most of the pre-school teacher modules required in South Africa her home before deciding with her husband and daughter to relocate to the UK. I discussed with Sharn’e the possibility of her working in our pre-school as I felt she had a huge amount to offer but eventually came to the conclusion that we simply did not have the budget or requirement at that time. Simon, my husband, then suggested perhaps I talked to Sharn’e about becoming our specialist Forest School teacher. His theory was that if she was from SA she must like the outdoors! Based on this somewhat thin logic I called Sharn’e and asked her to come in for another chat and we found the idea of Forest School actually did appeal to her greatly. Since then Sharn’e has commenced her Level 3 Forest School training, completed her Forest School First Aid and now runs all of our Forest School sessions which she has extended to our two-three year olds as well as our pre-schoolers. She is self-sufficient in the way she manages the Forest School sessions but maintains a good rapport with all other members of staff whilst the children love her enthusiastic approach and unwillingness to be deterred by our English weather.Sharn’e is expecting her second child around August 2018 but this hasn’t stopped her from running her Forest School sessions and we look forward to her returning to Park Day in 2019 following her maternity.
